A Place for You

Horizon Baptist Fellowship is a progressive Baptist church affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and is the sole authority for faith and practice.

We believe in God the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, who was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, suffered under Pontius Pilate, on the third day rose from the grave and is coming again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who is active in the individual life of believers and the corporate life of the church.

We believe in the forgiveness of sin and life everlasting.

Ministries of Horizon Baptist
Fellowship

HBF is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, a partnership of churches that takes seriously the command of Jesus to love God, to love our neighbor, and to preach the gospel around the world. CBF has missionaries serving Christ across our state and around the globe.

In addition to our commitment to CBF we have several other ministry partnerships and a host of ministries we perform as an individual congregation. The following is a summary of some of these.

Assisted Living Program --The first Sunday each month members of HBF provide a worship service for the residents of The Suites at Oakview. Programs include sharing communion, handbells, visits by youth, singing, fellowship, and devotionals.

Adopt a Shut-in --This ministry pairs a shut-in with a church member who contacts them regularly by phone, cards, letters, or personal visits. The church is updated about their condition if there is a change.

Benevolence Committee--This ministry offers assistance to those in need through food, clothing, transportation, and paying bills. Besides a yearly budget, once a quarter there is a special offering taken on Communion Sunday to help fund these requests.

Bereavement Committee --This ministry plans and prepares meals when a death occurs in the church family or when a member is recuperating from surgery or an illness.

Care Crew --This is a ministry to those in need, especially the elderly and single parents, by maintaining their yards & lawns.

Feeding America --The Benevolence and Mission Committees of HBF join together with other churches to provide volunteers and financial assistance in distributing food each week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Gideons --This is a ministry of Bible distribution in our community, state, country and around the world. In addition to providing money, we have members of HBF who are actively involved in this important work.

Good Samaritans —This is a ministry to our church members and those associated with our members who have special needs, particularly the elderly. This committee does yard work, makes repairs around the house, secures furniture, moves items and other jobs that these individuals are not able to do for themselves.

Literacy Council -- HBF supports literacy in our county by hosting the Adult Spelling Bee each year and providing volunteers and financial resources.

Mission Trip to Tijuana, Mexico --Several members of our church have gone on a week-long mission trip to Tijuana to help Pastor Fernando and his ministry by holding VBS, doing carpentry work, distributing food, and providing safe water.

North Georgia Cruisers --We have volunteers who participate with the Cruisers in buying and giving Christmas gifts to needy children in Chattooga County.

Pregnancy Resource Center --This is a ministry in our county to assist pregnant women with free services including pregnancy tests, sonograms, parenting classes and other services. Volunteers also go into the middle school with programs to encourage young people in responsible decision making.

Ruth School in Romania --This ministry offers education for poor children from Roma (gypsy) communities.

Samaritan's Purse --Church members fill shoeboxes with gifts for children around the world. These boxes are distributed by Samaritan’s purse during Christmas season.

Tijuana Tots --Church members give various amounts of money each month to help educate & support a child in Mexico. This money goes to Central Shalom.

The Well --Is a shelter for homeless women and children located in Summerville. Food, shelter, counseling, medical needs, and parenting classes are a few of many services offered by this ministry.
