Are you Southern Baptist?
No. We are Cooperative Baptists. This means we partner with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia as our primary partners in engaging our state and world in missions.
Do you have any local missions partners? Yes! We work with Community Resource Center of Chattooga, our local schools, Hope Rebirth, Literacy Council, and more.
What do I wear?
Whatever you want! We have no dress code. You will find people dressed from jeans and a t-shirt (shorts in the summer!) to the full suit and tie, and everything in between. Feel free to dress in whatever makes you comfortable! Just wear something.
What kind of music will I hear?
Great music! All kidding aside, we are proud of our music program here at Horizon. We do a traditional service with some more contemporary elements blended in. There is plenty of congregational singing (only if you want to!) as well as our choir. On a pretty regular basis, we add in others like our handbells, children's BLAST group, or many of our other talented musicians.
What kind of message will I hear?
Our Pastor generally follows the Revised Common Lectionary which sets the rhythm of the church year. He strives to bring the word in a way that is applicable, thought-provoking, challenging, and encouraging each week.
A Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Church
Some of the questions people ask about visiting a new church are answered below. If you've got questions that aren't answered here, please feel free to reach out to us, we will be happy to help.
What ages are your Sunday morning Bible studies divided by?
Our adult studies aren't really divided by age but rather by approach. We currently offer two adult Bible studies. One is based on curriculum offered by Smyth and Helwys publishing and is taught by a rotation of talented and engaging teachers each week. The other is a Bible discussion class that is centered around reading selections from the Bible and discussing their meaning and application.
What about my kids?
We offer two children's classes, one for the younger kids who aren't reading yet and one for older kids. Each Bible study is geared to their appropriate age level with their own classrooms and is taught by background checked, qualified volunteers. Our youth group is from 6th grade up and offers a time of Bible study and meets in our gym. You will find a sign as soon as you come in directing you toward the youth and children's wing.
